Broke out the Pool

We bought a new back yard kiddy pool on the weekend, it was raining so obviously we were not going to set it up. So the kids and I set it up tonight! I carried out some hot water to add, but the water was still a bit cool, oh well they are having a blast and I get to relax, well as much as you relax with a 4 and 2 year old! After about half an hour they started to get as they asked for hot chocolate to drink in the pool! Then the water started to dump water out of the pool, sprayed at the garage wall etc. oh well less to dump out!

Preschool or pre-k

I think we have finally found a preschool! We have looked at several and well I think the decision is made for a few reasons:

1. This preschool will take both Will and Madelyn in the same class.
2. Have classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This will still give us extra long weekends, with me on maternity leave this is huge!
3. No requirement for parents to help, however they do have sign up sheets for special events, you can volunteer for.
4. The teacher seems very organized, we actual got to observe part of her class. She was very open, kids seemed to like her and the kids were well behaved.
5. She does snacks, she just asked one parent each week to supply groceries, she just gives you a list (eg 12 bananas, 2 bags cheese strings and a bag ritz crackers). Pretty simple.
6. Did I mention she would take Madelyn in the same class as Will. Most preschools would not take Madelyn because she is not old enough, anyone who knows her knows she can handle preschool, or at least I think she can. With me being on maternity leave this will be great for her to stay socializing with other kids! Plus I will get 3 days a week for 2 hours to snuggle the new baby or clean my house or get groceries or heaven forbid nap!

One thing off the list to do!

Mini Fair

There was a mini fair set up in the Northgate Mall Parking Lot so we braved a break in the rain Saturday night and took the kids! They loved it and would have road rides all night, they each got to go on two and were asking for more. Instead they each got to win a stuffy and got mini donuts for the ride home.

Daddy got to ride the helicopter with Madelyn! Lucky him!
Much to Madelyn's disgust she was too small to ride the rollercoaster.

Soccer Tournament

Even though it was very windy and we got a bit wet, we still had fun at Will's soccer tournament today.

Only catastrophe was when Will fell into a puddle and was dripping wet, good thing I had a spare set of clothes in the van, even though they were a tad bit small at least he had dry pants.

Going in for a goal....
And he scores!
Soccer medals with his friend Kalleigh
Madelyn needed to get into the action.

Earthworms

The kids collected earthworms tonight and then thought they should take them for rides down the slide. True disappointment is when you earthworm breaks in half at the top of the slide, ask Will. Who was so careful climbing up with his worm sat down, looks down and says  "hey he broke in half". Good thing there was a spare earthworm to take down the slide. We did put all earthworms in the garden and I am happy to report that both halves of the broken earthworm were wiggling.

One Month Until Due Date

One month until the estimated arrival of Bettschen Baby #3. Things left to do:

- finish work, three more weeks
- Will's soccer tournament next weekend
- finish soccer, last game June 20th
- wash baby clothes, blankets etc.
- set up baby's room(crib is set up but furniture needs to be rearranged, a chair moved in etc.)
- pack a bag
- Get through Farm Progress Show week
- hopefully get to the spray park at least once

I am sure there is more but, I really don't want to make a detailed list, as that would be intimidating, until then I am going to snuggle up with Will and Maddy watch Mickey Mouse!

Airplanes

The Regina Flying Club had an open house today, it was free so we decided to check it out! There were all sorts of planes, jets, the airport's new fire trucks, air plane ambulance, we saw the Stars helicopter, a police plane to name a few. Some of the planes you could actually go into! In addition there were displays and things set up inside the hanger, definitely a pretty cool place for kids and adults!

Circus

Once again we hit up the circus when it was in town.  We had heard that there would be cats this year and the tigers were in fact there!  I was expecting a couple or maybe three tigers, but there were 10 how cool!  One of the tigers was being a bit stubborn during the show and would not sit on the stand he was supposed to and kept walking back to the door to leave.  But the other 9 performed. All I can say is Wow! They were very cool!

The kids loved the circus as always.  They got cotton candy which was a huge hit and loved watching the show.  The show was way more impressive this year, new acts and bigger acts, however there was a bit more down time for set-up which was fine for Will but towards the end Madelyn was getting a bit antsy.  Plus it was after 8, so she was getting tired.  Not that she was bad, just could not sit anymore, I guess 3 hours is long enough for a 2 year old.

The tigers and elephants were the kids favourite part, are you surprised?

First time seeing the elephants! Look at those eyes in amazement!

Tigers!

Will's favourite part, when the tigers jumped through the flaming loop.

Acrobats, also amazed Will.

Operation Room Share Update

So far the kids have been doing great sharing a room! Bedtime has been uneventful, actually easier as we don't have to run from room to room and they are sleeping good.

Madelyn loves sharing a room with her brother! She has said several times "I love sleeping with Will".  Although Will does not want to admit it, I think he secretly likes sharing a room too, here is my evidence:
Last night right about when we went to bed, we heard some noise then Will opens the door. He said to Chris "I woke up for a drink (they have water cups in room at night) and I think Madelyn might like a drink too, what should I do?"  Chris assured him that if Madelyn needed a drink she would wake up and could get one then. He crawled into be and we did not hear from them until 6:30 this am.

We consider 6:30 morning around here, Will almost always up then, Madelyn generally sleeps in a bit longer 7 or 7:30 if she can, but seems to be doing fine with a bit earlier wake up time, she is just enjoying longer naps, like 3 hours and then we have been waking her!

Overall we are pleased with the room sharing! Hopefully it continues to be a non event! I remember sharing a room as a child and actually not wanting to sleep alone, even when I had my own room for quite sometime.

Of course the most precious thing is peeking in on them before we head to bed and see them peacefully sleeping together! After all they cannot fight while sleeping!

Finished Room

Finished room, blending of diggers and flowers. Perhaps a bit busy but the kids are happy!
